Richard Baxter once said, "“It is an ill sign of a false, self-seeking heart that can be content to be still doing, and see no fruit of their labour.”  As we pray God reveals his purposes.  Let's act on what God is saying and, by the power of the Holy Spirit, begin to see the fruit of our labour.

Packed Pews Buck Trend
Worshippers in the Wyre Forest are bucking the trend by packing into the pews and proving that their churches are as popular as ever. Figures just released by the Church of England reveal that while people across the nation are turning their backs on church worship, in the Wyre Forest more and more families are answering the call to prayer.

Separating, Sifting, Threshing and Pressing (4 January 2007)

"I recently read a prophecy by Matt Sorger on 3 January 2007 to do with a sifting that he believes God is bringing on the Christian Church. As I read, the Holy Spirit dropped the following word into my heart:

“'I am doing a sifting, indeed. I am separating my people for my purposes and only he who is willing to be sifted will be used for my glory. I am separating the wheat from the thorns and the barley from the briers. I am threshing the harvest! Be willing to be threshed. I am picking the grapes and sorting the crop. Be ready to be sorted and pressed. What grape can withstand the wine press? Indeed, as it submits it is united with others who submit and are pressed together in order to do the will of the vineyard owner. Each combines with each to produce quality, pleasing new wine. See I am doing a new thing.

't’s all about attitude of the heart. What is our “heartatt?” We need to humble ourselves and turn from our rebellion, o church in England. Turn from rebellion, self opinionated attitude and ego. Turn from being egocentric to being Christocentric.

'WARNING:
Beware the yeast of the Pharisees (hypocrisy, religion & pride).""

Revival - An Inconvenient Truth (24 May 2007)

Al Gore’s documentary film on climate change, ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, is aptly named. Our society revered scientific knowledge when it seemed to bring us benefits, but now when scientists warn us that our affluent lifestyles are threatening to wreak serious environmental damage, we are much less keen to know.

For myself, and I suspect for many others too, there are times when revival feels like an inconvenient truth because it reminds us of the gap between what passes for normal Christianity in most western societies and the reality of what God intended for the church as we see it in the pages of the New Testament. For those who come to the bible from a theologically liberal standpoint this is not really a problem of course because they do not accept it as the inspired and authoritative Word of God and they are deeply skeptical about the supernatural.

However, for us as Evangelicals who do hold to the authority of Scripture the gap remains and it is surprising to find the lengths that some will go to in order to interpret the gap away, marginalising those key passages of Scripture whose plain sense is that the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit simply is one of the great defining features of the New Covenant brought about by the ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus. It is also easy of course to point to the dangers of mistaken claims and immaturity in churches which have enthusiastically embraced the vision of revival, but are these things any worse than the danger of smugness and complacency?

Tempted though I sometimes am to avoid it, I find that God keeps bringing me back to face this ‘inconvenient truth’ and to face the fact that revival is vital for our times. Some forty years ago Dr Martyn Lloyd Jones wrote ‘If you my friend, as a Christian are not concerned at this moment more than anything else with the need of the power of the Holy Spirit in the Christian church, I am afraid you do not understand your Christianity. Never was there such need for the proclamation of the truth with authority and power and nothing but a baptism of the Holy Spirit will enable the church to do this.’ (Prove All Things p54). If this was true then, how much more now! Some may take issue with the phrase ‘baptism of the Holy Spirit’ but the important thing is the experience behind it. The empowering presence of God is always something that is felt, it is experienced. Throughout the New Testament people always knew whether or not they had received the Spirit. It was not something you simply inferred from your baptism.

This is so important because if revival were about what I have to do and make myself feel, then it would be a very burdensome truth as well as an inconvenient one, but always the core of genuine revival is a new sense of encounter with God which changes our desires. The first stage is always a deeper hunger for God. The East African Revival of 1953, which had much to do with the vibrant Christianity we associate with Africa today, began in this way. One of the European missionaries described it in this way ‘We had prepared messages on the Holy Spirit, each speaker dealing with one particular aspect. After the first message the Africans expressed among themselves a desire for God to meet with them. The church business lasted all day without anything startling happening. In the evening however, we Europeans were holding our usual prayer meeting in our house, while the Africans were holding theirs in the school. Suddenly we heard strange loud cryings coming from the building. Many were overcome with a violent shaking, quite uncontrollable…many were standing with their hands raised, worshipping the Saviour’ (This is That p7). The Europeans had been praying for revival for a long time, but were initially unsure if this was genuine. However they quickly came to see it as authentic, not least because the people had not simply a new determination to preach the gospel, but a new power.

The gospel itself, to our human nature, is an ‘inconvenient truth’ because it involves the surrender of our rebellious lives at the foot of the cross. Now we are not living for our convenience, but for the glory of God. It was only by God’s grace that we came to cross and it is only by God’s grace that we can now live in the power of the Spirit. So let’s be thankful for that ‘inconvenient truth’ that destroys our self sufficiency and prompts our hearts to pray for a fresh outpouring of those living waters of the Spirit of God.

Coming Clouds (20 March 2007)

PROPHECY: Tuesday 20th March 2007
Dudley Anderson

On 1 March 2007 I was driving on the M1 on my way to a Ground Level meeting when the power of God came upon me.  I became weak in my arms and legs and began to weep.  Only by his grace did the Lord keep me safe on the road.

As I worshiped the Lord in his majesty, I noticed dark rolling clouds ahead.  I was driving in under a weather front.  All the more the Holy Spirit came over me.  As I looked at these dark clouds I realised that, although they appeared ominous, they represented the Holy Spirit of God.

In 2 Chron 5:13-14 we read:

“Then the temple of the LORD was filled with a cloud, 14 and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the temple of God.”

In Ps 18: 11-14 we read:

“11 He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him--
    the dark rain clouds of the sky.

  12 Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advanced,
    with hailstones and bolts of lightning.

  13 The LORD thundered from heaven;
    the voice of the Most High resounded.

  14 He shot his arrows and scattered the enemies,
    great bolts of lightning and routed them.

As I prayed about this experience later I became convinced that the Lord is about to pour judgment out on this nation.   Many times before, the Holy Spirit has been poured out on Great Britain.  She has responded to his call and experienced great moves of God as many thousands have come to salvation and many wonders performed.  She has sent many, many apostles and prophets to the nations of the world but, sadly she has forsaken her first love.  As Britain has rebelled the church in Britain has become complacent and like sheep, each of her children has tuned to his or her own way.  Today they seek self and not God. Today they ask, “What can I do to make life easier.”  Complacency has taken root in the body of Christ and apathy has over-shadowed the children of God.

Addition – 19 July 2007:

Zep 1:12
12 At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps
    and punish those who are complacent,
    who are like wine left on its dregs,
  who think, `The LORD will do nothing,
    either good or bad.'

Zep 1:15-16
  15 That day will be a day of wrath,
    a day of distress and anguish,
  a day of trouble and ruin,
    a day of darkness and gloom,
    a day of clouds and blackness,

  16 a day of trumpet and battle cry
    against the fortified cities
    and against the corner towers.

We remember that our God is faithful and his love endures for ever.  Although he is appraising his church and judging this nation, he is a gracious Father who shows love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep his commandments. The Lord God is calling his body to stand in integrity by the power of his Word and his Spirit.  Those who love him and uncompromisingly seek his face, say:

Ps 138:1-3
1 I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart;
before the "gods" I will sing your praise.

2 I will bow down toward your holy temple
and will praise your name
for your love and your faithfulness,
for you have exalted above all things
your name and your word.

3 When I called, you answered me;
you made me bold and stouthearted.

Fire & Water (24 May 2007)

Deuteronomy 28:9-12
The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord our God and walk in his ways. Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord and they will fear you. The lord will grant you abundant prosperity – in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and crops of your ground-in the land he swore to your forefathers to give you. The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the works of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.

Background

Thirty years ago I talked with my Granny Morgan noting all she could remember of her family. She was a descendent of a Manager of the Raven Colliery and an owner of the Tin Plate Works in Brynamman in the Welsh Valleys. I had all the stories of how their children had squandered their inheritance through ways such as drinking and gambling. At one point she said “Oh there were two non-conformist ministers. I think they wrote a book.” She remembered no more details. I now think there is a possibility she was referring to Rees and Samuel Howells. Granny was born Hannah Mary Jones and took on the name Nina Rees when she was adopted. She married my Granddad and they moved to Walsall. The links with Wales are still strong. My family still return for fishing trips. Two years ago, I went to the fishing hut and for the first time went to an English speaking church in Llandeilo. This church was newly planted.

The significance of Wales

My desire and concern for Wales is not understood by the rest of my family! Having read The Rees Howells book for the third time and watched a DVD and read a book on the 1904 Welsh Revival. I thought it was time to ask the Lord what was so significant about Wales. The answer was close to being an audible voice. “You are living in the Rain Shadow of Wales and the prevailing winds bring the clouds over the welsh mountains releasing the rain. Wales provides you with water through the Rivers Wye and Severn and the Elan Valley provides Birmingham’s water supply.”

Work on the Elan Valley was started in 1893 and in July 1904, King Edward VII and
Queen Alexandra opened the dams and water began to flow along the 74 miles of pipeline to the Frankley Reservoir, Birmingham.

Clean water was in short supply and typhoid and cholera were rife because of the rapid rise in population in the industrial revolution. The Elan Valley had been chosen because of:

• Its high rainfall (at 72inches per year 3 times more than in London, raining on 235 days each year)
• The narrow downstream valleys made dam building easier
• Impermeable bedrock prevented the water seeping away
• Altitude – the area was higher than Birmingham so the water flowed under gravity

The dams now have hydroelectric turbines and generate 4.6 megawatts of power.
We have chosen the narrow way and if we become based on the Rock of Christ then the blessings we receive will not seep away but flow down to others in need. There were no pumping stations on the pipeline and rivers flow under gravity. God is saying this is not a work of man and will not come by our own efforts.

Our Lord and King opened the floodgates of heaven releasing love and mercy to a guilty world. By November 1904, the press were reporting the events in the churches of Wales. It was two years of lives being changed dramatically. Evan Roberts asked the Lord for 100,000 people and he saw them all born again. Numbers were even recorded in the newspapers. This amounted to about 5% of the population of Wales but the effect was felt in England, Scotland and as far as India, Africa and the United States. I believe that revival was only a foretaste of what is to come and we can look into the clouds and expect rain.

(A prophecy the Prayer Wyre meeting 26th May 2007 was given that “the watchmen should look over the Forest for signs of fire but that we were to run to it and like that of Shadrach Meshach and Abednego we would not be burned” I had a similar dream about this about 15 years ago. )

The Former and Latter rains – Discerning the Seasons

God gives us the former and latter rains – that is the autumn and spring rains.
These are separated by the winter. The value of which, Karen Anderson so clearly preached on earlier this year. Winter is not a time of death but a time of dormancy. Deciduous trees still grow through winter even though they appear to be dead; the growth takes place under ground! God has been growing and developing the roots of his people in preparation for the spring rain. On Monday 21st May, whilst praying with Sue Johnston, the Lord said “I have heard, I have seen, I am at work”. The signs of spring are appearing. Not least of which, is the stirring up a desire for change.

Deuteronomy 11: 13-14
“So if you faithfully obey the commandments. I am giving you today - to love the lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul – then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and oil.”

The precursor to rain is obedience. This is the factor that runs through the life of Rees Howells, if only we could make the sacrifices he made we would see even more amazing things happen. Evan Hopkins of the Keswick convention, a man who strongly influenced Rees said “Practical Holiness is not something that begins by doing but by being”. Obedience is in the number one slot of Evan Roberts’ conditions for Revival:

1. If there is past sin or sins hitherto un-confessed we cannot receive the Spirit. Therefore we must search, and ask the Spirit to search

2. If there is anything doubtful in our lives it must be removed. Anything we are uncertain about, its rightness or wrongness, that thing must be removed

3. An entire giving up of ourselves to the Spirit: we must speak and do all that is required of us

4. Public confession of Christ. And at the end of the meeting let all who have confessed Christ remain behind and initiate the round of prayer

Take care that each one prays:

1. Send the Spirit now for Jesus Christ’s sake;
2. Send the Spirit powerfully now for Jesus Christ’s sake;
3. Send the Spirit more powerfully now for Jesus Christ’s sake;
4. Send the Spirit still more powerfully now for Jesus Christ’s sake;

In Genesis 9:15 The Lord promised Noah that he would not destroy all the Earth by flood. The flood we long for is one of mercy. We need to pray for the Floodgates of heaven to be opened once again.

The source of the River Loughor is amazing and at its mouth the Welsh Revival began. Both Roy Davies and Dudley Anderson have asked if anyone had been to the source of the Severn –I have and it is most unimpressive. The Severn is a much wider and longer river. About 18 years ago I heard a prophecy at a Ladies Prayer breakfast in Stourbridge “Little by Little this valley will be filled with water” Kidderminster and Stourport lie in that valley. At Stourport, the Stour meets the Severn and when the Severn floods the water backs up the Stour.

Fire and Water

Most descriptions of the Welsh revival (and other revivals) are described as fire. My question to the Lord was why I was majoring on water and not fire – they surely do no mix. This was answered 26th May 2007 at the Prayer Wyre meeting. Rick Thomas of Kidderminster Covenant Church was given a Word from the Lord. He said “When fire and water are put together you get steam and that steam can be converted to power”

Commitment

Malachi 3:10
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me on this” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it”

This is a personal challenge to me and you!

Dyma Gariad

“Here is love vast as the ocean
Loving kindness as the flood
When the Prince of Life, our ransom
Shed for us his precious blood
Who his love will not remember?
Who can cease to sing His praise?
He can never be forgotten
Throughout heaven’s eternal days.
On the mount of crucifixion
Fountains opened deep and wide.
Through the floodgates of God’s mercy
Flowed a vast and Gracious tide.
Grace and love, like mighty rivers
Poured incessant from above;
And heaven’s peace and perfect justice
Kissed a guilty world in love.”

I will keep you

I am the beacon of hope for this nation. I am the true and living God, who was and is, and is to come. My name is Prince of Peace, light of the world, holy One and my way is the only way.

My light will never diminish. My fire will never go out. My flame will continue to burn brightly and my truth will prevail. Oh my people, my dear beloved ones, listen to me, take hold of what I say to you, I long for you to be ever closer to me. Don’t let the darkness deceive you. My light and my truth are so bright that when you really open your eyes and see it, it will be too overwhelming to take in.

Oh come to me with all your hearts, this love I have for you is all consuming. Let me ignite in you that fire, so that you can be beacons of light to others and cause my light to shine brighter. I long for all to turn to me and be saved. Let your light shine before all men, give reason for the hope that you have, don’t cover this light.

I am your awesome mighty God, whose breath is like a fire, don’t be deceived in these times, stand on my word, my promises, my truth, let nothing move you and when you have done everything, stand.

My Jesus intercedes for you, my Jesus died for you, my Jesus rose again for you, and my Jesus is coming back for you. My people hold on, my people don’t give up, my people keep praying, my people keep loving, my people keep working.

My people called by my name, ‘I will KEEP you and make you a covenant for all the people, to restore the land and reassign it’s desolate inheritances, to say to the captives “come out and to those in darkness be free!” ‘ Isaiah 49:8&9

A Man of Straw (22 September 2008)

I believe that I received a vision from the Lord yesterday for the Church at large.  This is what I saw:

I saw a field of wheat, tall and ripe, ready for harvest.  It was a glorious harvest evening with an amber light falling on the wheat, giving it a golden hue.  As I looked I saw a man on a cross in the centre of the field.  A ray of golden light was falling on the man.  Thinking that this must be Christ I looked more closely, but all I saw was a scarecrow - a man of straw.

The wheat harvest is the world - full of souls ready to hear the story of Christ, ready for reaping into the Kingdom of God.  But the Christ that they see is just a man of straw, not the crucified Son of God who died for their sins.  Nobody has told them who Christ really is.  I asked, "Where are the harvesters, Lord?"  But they were all in their Churches seeking healing, blessings and emotionally satisfying experiences of the Holy Spirit.  They had lost interest in the harvest and were so preoccupied with themselves that they had forgotten their true mission and purpose.  Unless the individuals who comprise the Church take the great commission seriously, Jesus will only be a man of straw to the world.

Jerusalem (June - July 2008)

21 June The Vision

While praying for Rick Ridings in Jerusalem God gave me this vision; I saw myself looking over this ridge down into a valley at this white city. Beside me, on both sides, there were many people doing the same; they seemed to be mirroring my actions while quietly talking to each other. Their expressions were ones of wonder and interest, but they seemed to have an ignorance about them; they did not truly understand what was happening. I knew these people were beside me and what they were thinking but I was more concerned about the scene in front of me. As I looked down onto this city I saw in the land surrounding it, many craters made from meteors. Some were grassy and grown over, others were fresh ground that had been newly impacted.

I didn’t see any meteors falling but I felt them above me, I seemed to feel them falling around this city. Where the people around me we inquisitive about the scene, I was frightened. Anxiety and fear seemed to overtake me and I couldn’t bear to look at the scene anymore. As I ducked behind the ridge again, the people beside me followed in two waves on either side. They knew that something was really wrong but didn’t understand what. I just had a feeling that I knew more than they did.

What God initially told me

I can’t be ignorant anymore. I need to watch what is going on in the world; I have no choice; I’m responsible. I need to keep watch what is happening to Jerusalem and the nations surrounding it. This is God’s world; we have no right to live in our own little bubble. As a Christian we need to develop a heart after God’s and He is concerned about what is happening in His world. I felt that my not wanting to watch the scene in the valley below was symbolic of my ignorance of the world.

The crowds on either side of me symbolised Christians. I felt God condemning us for our ignorance. I felt that He would no longer tolerate it; it was time for His people to step up and step out!

I felt the meteors were symbolic of the nations around Israel targeting its people. All through history nations have come up against God’s people and tried to destroy them; this is symbolised by the craters that were grassy and grown over; old scares. The new craters that showed fresh ground unearthed, I felt, symbolised the new battles against God’s people, new attempts to wipe out His people.

I really felt God say that Jerusalem had this quiet confidence about it; that I didn’t have to worry because God was protecting her, I just need to keep watch.

22 June Scripture

Joel 3: 14-17 “multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. The sun and moon will be darkened and the stars no longer shine. The Lord will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and sky will tremble. But the Lord will be a refuge for His people, a stronghold for the people of Israel. Then you will know that I, the Lord your God, dwell in Zion, my holy hill. Jerusalem will be holy; never again will foreigners invade her.”

Multitudes of people in the valley...what their decision is I do not know.

The time is near, the fresh craters symbolise new battles to be won. The grown over craters symbolise the old battles, perhaps even the attacks on Israel in the Bible times. The fresh ones are battles through recent years and those yet to come. Perhaps the intensity I felt with the craters overhead, but the fact that I couldn’t see them, could symbolise the coming of something big. Even though we can’t see it, we need to be aware of it, we need to feel it coming before we see it.

The darkened sun and moon and trembling sky could symbolise the darkened sky from the craters in my vision.

God’s promise of being a refuge and stronghold to His people is portrayed through the quiet confidence that I felt God had over Jerusalem in my vision. God will be the confidence of His people, He will be worshipped, He will protect.

17 July Scripture

Isaiah 21:7 “...let him be alert, fully alert”

Isaiah 52:8 “Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices, together they shout for joy. When the Lord returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes. Burst into songs of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem.”

I felt God telling me that I am going to be a watchman in what is coming. That I will see God’s glory coming and it’s my responsibility to tell others. That when I see it, I can’t be ignorant of it, and I must be responsible in telling others.

Within my vision, this could be symbolised by the many people either side of me mirroring my actions. I seemed to feel more gravity for the scene I saw but the others seemed ignorant; this could be because a watchman knows what is happening before the people below. It is his responsibility to inform them.

I know the second verse is for me because it was the verse straight after the one I got for the church.

Scripture

Isaiah 32:17-20 “the fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence for ever. My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest. Though hail flattens the forest and the city is leveled completely, how blessed you will be, sowing your seed by every stream, and letting your cattle and donkeys roam free”

What struck me instantly in this scripture were the words “quietness and confidence”. In my vision God told me not to be scared because Jerusalem had a quiet confidence about it. Another line that complimented the vision was “hail flattens the forest”, I saw this as the meteors falling around the city and disrupting the ground around it.

Now I felt God say that Jerusalem represented His people, but not just the Jews but His followers. Things are going to start to fall apart around them but they need not worry and just trust in God. He will protect them and give them this quiet confidence. They will live peacefully and secure and not be struck by the meteors or the falling of the world around them. That the time is coming when God is going to judge the world for what they are doing. He is going to start destroying the world as they know it but His people must just keep faith in Him. I feel that the city that is leveled represents today’s society and perhaps the way that they function and live. Looking at what is going on around us at the moment we can see this; housing prices dropping, petrol souring!

I also thought, the sowing of seeds by the stream, could represent the Church’s work here by the Severn.

Isaiah 34:1-4 “come near you nations and listen, pay attention, you peoples! Let the earth hear and all that is in it, the world and all that comes out of it! The Lord is angry with all nations; His wrath is upon all their armies. He will totally destroy them, He will give them over the slaughter. Their slain will be thrown out, their dead bodies will send up a stench; the mountains will be soaked with their blood. All the stars of the heavens will be dissolved and the sky rolled up like a scroll; all the starry hosts will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like shriveled figs from the fig-tree”

This scripture compliments the one above. God is angry at the nations; for how they act and live now days. They have forgotten Him and now it’s time for EVERYONE to pay attention. By God destroying their armies He is destroying their strengths and what they rely on for functioning and find safety in.

The blood soaked mountains could be seen as the battle field around the city in my visions; the meteors were causing such destruction, pain, fear. The falling meteors are described in this scripture as the falling starry hosts.

Perhaps the falling of the withered leaves from the vine could symbolise God sorting through His people; the ones that aren’t strong enough to fight for their Lord will wither and fall away from Him, as “He is the vine and we are the branches”. This could be seen in the “multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision”. Gods people are coming to a point where they have to choose between God or the worldly way they live their lives.

I also felt that the mass destruction described in the verses and the vision could be an attack on Gods people. That the world is going to increase their attack on God’s people and we need to be ready for it. Just as God told me in my vision not to be scared or ignorant, that He is protecting His people, we need full confidence in our Lord!
